The Last Day of My Stay in Japan
I sorted through a pile of letters addressed to me, most of which were from official offices, such as the tax office, regarding my collapsed company. Afterward, I went to Komeda Coffee to have some coffee. While I was walking along the road, I ran into Mr. Shinoda, whom I had met at a local group event. He introduced me to his wife. Honestly, I could not remember his name at first, but we exchanged New Year’s greetings anyway. I read a book at the cafe for over an hour, which was quite productive. When I returned home, I ate gyoza and croquettes that my mother had cooked. My younger sister and her two sons joined us for dinner. My nephew, Rintaro, told us a very funny story. He said, “My mother’s father looks like he is half asleep all the time.” I took a shower just after 10 pm because I wanted to be in good condition for my flight to Hanoi, Vietnam, the following day. I fell asleep shortly after 11 pm and had a very strange and vivid dream. In the dream, I encountered numerous snakes and grasshoppers. I was showered with grasshopper droppings.
