Idealizing Japan Too Much
Gloomy weather has continued these days. It feels like an abnormal spring in the Netherlands. I struggled to manage my financial assets. It gave me a headache. Furthermore, I received an invoice from a dental clinic. It was €250. I was surprised by how expensive it was. I went to the bar My Way. While I was drinking, Nelke and Kristine came in. They had been at the bar Stiefel and then moved here. Kristine talked to me about Japanese culture. She emphasized how sophisticated Japanese education is. Even children behave politely. She also talked about geisha culture. I thought that she idealized Japanese culture too much. One more thing, we talked about Japanese writing systems: kanji, hiragana, and katakana. She did not know that we Japanese use all three types of characters mixed together on a daily basis. We talked for over an hour. I felt tired from our discussion, so I left. I had steamed white fish fillet with vegetables and bread for dinner. I read books for over an hour.
