Dutch School Intake

I went to a Dutch language school for an intake session at 11:30 am. The explanation was clear, and the cost seemed acceptable for me. It is 17 EUR per hour. It was a rainy and windy day, but that should be considered typical Dutch winter weather. For me, such weather is better than summer. I stopped by a cafe. I tried to connect to the Wi-Fi, but it did not work. A waiter said, “I don’t know why, but we cannot connect.” I bought some goods at the supermarket and returned home. I updated my spreadsheet for alcohol consumption and spent more than an hour on it. I visited the bar My Way. While I was drinking, a familiar older man talked to me. His name was Alex, and he gave me two bottles of beer. We smoked outside with Ruud. They talked in Dutch about stocks and Erol’s financial advice. (Erol is one of the regular customers.) Alex seemed to complain about Erol, and then I asked Ruud in English what they were talking about. He tried to explain, but I could not understand precisely. Ruud also gave me a beer. For dinner, I had discounted smoked mackerel, packaged brown rice, and stir-fried vegetables. I did not drink very much, so I can write down what time I fell asleep. It was 10:30 pm.

Heads-up! These aren't journal entries – they're crafted essays written in English.
Thoughtful, personal, and cross-cultural.
