My Birthday Trip

I left my house at 1 pm. When I was about to leave, I met Janine and she gave me four kinds of bottled beer as a birthday gift. It was fantastic. Jan was standing on top of a ladder, fixing the wall of the house. I told him to be careful and to have a nice day. I headed to the village called Bergen by bus. It was my third or fourth time staying there. I checked in at a hotel, Dijkstra Hotels, just after 2 pm. The official check-in time is 3 pm, but they gave me a room key. I like this kind of relaxed attitude abroad. I took a shower and received a phone call from Eri. We talked about several things. I was expecting good news, but she did not have anything special to share, so I felt disappointed. I visited a bar where I had not been before. It had a nice atmosphere, and the owner gave me a small bowl of chips. It was good hospitality. After that, I stopped by a supermarket and bought a bottle of white wine and a discounted penne chicken salad. These days, I am trying to be frugal, so I could not buy a nice meal even though it was my birthday. What a pitiful mindset. I am being foolish. It was not a good place to have dinner in the hotel room. The room was not very cozy or spacious. Furthermore, the walls were very thin, so I could easily hear the voices from the next room. It was really frustrating. I watched Kill Bill Vol. 2 on TV. It was so-so. I had a headache because of the noise. It was a terrible night.
