Learning Dutch More and More
I started in the early morning. When I was doing the laundry, I met Jan. He was drying grapes and offered me one to taste. It was sour and not very tasty. He started to teach me some Dutch, so I followed along. “Dat is boom. Dit is tafel (That is tree. This is table)” and so on. I went to get cash to pay the rent, 600 EUR. I stopped by a general shop, Xenos, and bought a cup, small saucers, and a mat. Those items suited my room. In the evening, I went to the bar Stiefel. I talked with Maria, the bar owner. She said she is going to retire next year. She will turn 66 years old on October 6. She is considering passing the bar to Elsa, a regular bartender. I tried to speak more Dutch than before. I could not express even simple things. I cooked vegetables. I had bread and canned mackerel for dinner. I fell asleep around 11 pm.
