King’s Day
I woke up after 10am, and started to do my daily routines, when Jan called me from downstairs. He sent me a message the night before, but I didn’t check it. He invited me to return a camping trailer. I hurried up to prepare to go out. We left home at 11:30am and then visited the countryside. We met a Dutch couple who was running farms. Jan paid them about 400EUR to rent a trailer. We talked in their living room. The TV showed the King of the Netherlands who received a hearty welcome in Maastricht. We came back home and then we walked to Bakkum. On the way there, I found a mobile pub that moved by people pedalling a bicycle. They gave me a cup of beer and alcoholic drinks for free. I have never seen such a nice vehicle ever. In Bakkum, there were a lot of flea markets in front of people’s houses. I met Jan’s kajac friends. We talked for an hour while standing. I had two glasses of beer and a glass of white wine. Furthermore, I met his ex-wife and her current husband. I was really astonished to see them talking very naturally. It is not normal in Japan because they were divorced, right? After I came back home, I did work for a while. I cooked pork steak and porridge etc., for dinner. I fell asleep around midnight.
