Empty new year.

I had bread, onigiri, and instant soba noodles with a variety of alcoholic drinks by myself yesterday. It was the most lonely new year in my life, I think. I don’t think I will ever experience such a day again. I had drunk the whole day and I didn’t do anything. I watched a traditional Japanese new year celebration on Twitter and Facebook. I wonder if I could have joined them but it was impossible. Say “happy new year!” that voice echoed with emptiness.

Heads-up! These aren't journal entries – they're crafted essays written in English.
Thoughtful, personal, and cross-cultural.
