Chatting With the Bar Owner

I was not very active that day. I visited the bar Stiefel and talked with Maria. There was a stinky unfamiliar female customer. I told Maria that I felt cold, and she closed the door. However, she whispered to me, “She smells bad, that is why I had opened the door.” I told her that I am learning about Dutch political parties. We discussed immigrants, and she agreed with shutting the border and reducing the number of refugees. She showed me her thoughts on Google Translate, which said, “How do you distinguish between people who are real refugees and people who come here by chance (or just hoping for good fortune)?” I was astonished that she had such a fundamental perspective. For dinner, I cooked cheap organic chicken legs with a variety of vegetables. I also added leftover stamppot. I read books in bed and fell asleep around 10 pm.

Heads-up! These aren't journal entries – they're crafted essays written in English.
Thoughtful, personal, and cross-cultural.
